Research Systems

Aquatic Habitats (AHAB) is a world leader in aquatic system design, and our turnkey systems are secure, efficient and as fail-safe as possible. On the left you can get an overview of our types of systems, all of which are customizable to your individual needs.

Species that can be housed in AHAB systems include zebrafish (Danio rerio), medaka (Oryzias latipes), African clawed frogs (Xenopus laevis and Xenopus tropicalis), Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), darters (various species), dace (various species), fathead minnows, goldfish, stickleback, octopus (various species) and many more.

Stand-Alone System

The Stand-Alone is one of our proven, time-tested zebrafish housing systems. Save time setting up and keeping track of your experiments compared with conventional fish-keeping systems. In fact, you can fit up to 120 tanks in the same footprint as three conventional 10-gallon glass aquaria!

Benchtop System
The AHAB benchtop system is ideal for labs that have no floor space and limited counter space. Each shelf holds six 10-liter, twelve 3-liter or twenty 1.5-liter tanks. Mix and match for added versatility!

X-Rack
The X-Rack line is designed for Xenopus applications and accommodates a wide variety of tank sizes for various applications.

Mass Embryo Production System (MEPS®)
Designed specifically for the production of large numbers of zebrafish embryos for drug screening, toxicology assays/experiments or propagation of fish.

Multi Glass Tank System
With bigger tanks than the Stand-Alone system, the Multi Glass system is a nice fit for labs where larger species of fish are being used. Also a great choice for toxicology-related studies in which plastic tanks may not be ideal.

Multi-Rack System
The Multi-Rack system is custom-built to your specifications, with as many racks as your research needs. You'll get flexible options regarding tank sizes, shelf configurations, rack widths and heights—everything. No facility design is too complicated.

The FinCensus® Research Software

The FinCensus® from Aquatic Habitats® will reduce the time and effort spent recording and analyzing typical fish facility data, such as crosses, mutations and employee care responsibilities. Once you have the FinCensus® you don't have to rely solely on data recorded in notebooks, which could be lost or damaged beyond legibility, or start the time-consuming task of creating a home-grown database.
